Gambar
Finding a foolproof recipe for a kitchen staple like chicken is kind of like finding the holy grail these days. But today, you just might be in luck. Our friends at GFF Magazine have shared with us what they think could be the best chicken recipe . . . EVER. We tried the GFF Mag chicken recipe ourselves and discovered that it really does create a supercrisp skin with flavorful, moist meat. INGREDIENTS 1 large whole chicken (about 4 1/2 pounds), deboned (ask the butcher to do it for you) 1 teaspoon kosher salt DIRECTIONS Salt the chicken with 1 teaspoon of salt 1 to 3 hours prior to cooking and reserve in the refrigerator until 10 minutes before cooking. Preheat the broiler. Put the chicken, skin-side up, on a rimmed sheet pan and place it under the broiler, about 3 inches from the heat, to brown and crisp the skin, about 10 minutes, rotating the pan a few times for even browning. Turn the oven temperature down to 250°F and cook for 25 minutes. Cut the chicken into entrée-size pieces, t...

Salisbury steak with gravy will become you favorite weeknight ultimate comfort food!  Salisbury steak isn’t a steak it’s basically a fancy hamburger traditionally served with mashed potatoes. INGREDIENTS: For the salisbury steak: 1 1/2 lb ground beef 1/2 cup bread crumbs 2 eggs 1 1/4 tsp garlic powder 3 onions (1 onion diced the other two sliced thin) 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce salt for taste (I used 1 1/4 tsp) pepper for taste (I used 1 tsp) Pinch of celery salt small handful of chopped parsley Beef gravy  2 cups beef broth (I use Better Than Bouillon Roasted Beef Base) 3 tbs flour 1 tsp heavy whipping cream (optional) 1/4 cup unsalted butter Salt for taste Pepper for taste Intruc...

Spicy cumin chicken thighs with green beans

Gambar
Quick to cook and difficult to fail, spicy cumin chicken thighs with green beans is inspired by a popular Chinese street food. An easy pan-fried dish full of flavour.  This is not a classic Chinese dish, but inspired by a popular street food I used to have back in my home province of Gansu, in China. It’s called Yang Rou Chuan In my recipe, I use both cumin powder and whole cumin seeds, the same for chilli too (both powder and flakes). This helps to maximize the fragrance of the spices, and to create an appealing finished look. If you are not accustom to very hot food, please feel free to reduce the amount of chilli powder and flakes (or use milder ones). However, I wouldn’t suggest reducing the cumin as it’s really the soul of this dish. Quick to cook and difficult to fail, spicy cumin chicken thighs with green beans is inspired by a popular Chinese street food. An easy pan-fried dish full of flavour. Ingredients 300g / 10oz green beans 1 pinch salt 6 skinless, boneless chicken th...

Spicy Fried Cauliflower “Chicken”

Gambar
It’s crispy, it’s tender, it’s full of flavor, and it’s vegan! This spicy fried cauliflower “chicken” is just as delicious as the real thing, but no chickens were harmed, and it’s so much healthier. Cauliflower is a great replacement for chicken in this recipe because it’s juicy, hearty, and tender. The double batter guarantees a perfect crunch! Becoming vegan has opened my eyes up to the many ways of preparing Southern staples without using animals. In every case, the vegan recipe is as delicious and fulfilling as the non-vegan alternative. So much of what we like about a traditional recipe is the seasoning, and technique. As you’ll see in this recipe, you can use classic fried chicken seasoning (which is accidentally vegan) and the same technique of double battering and dredging cauliflower through seasoned flour. Just like my Nana does it! This spicy fried cauliflower recipe has been updated since I created the video. The flax "egg" has been replaced with arrowroot which i...

BAKED CHICKEN PIZZAIOLA

Gambar
Baked chicken cutlets covered in parmesan bread crumbs and topped with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. If pizza and chicken Parmesan fell in love and had a baby together this is what it would look like. The pepperoni adds a spicy punch that kicks up the flavor a notch or two. That’s where the ‘pizza’ in the ‘pizzaiola’ comes in. Combined with the mozzarella and the tomato sauce your taste buds think you’re eating pizza, with the chicken acting as a stand-in for the crust. If you’re craving pizza, this might not do the trick but if you’re looking to change-up your traditional chicken Parmesan routine or just need a quick dinner idea, then this is your answer. Baked chicken cutlets covered in Parmesan bread crumbs and topped with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, served with spaghetti and an easy tomato sauce. Ingredients Sauce {substitute 1 jar (24 ounce) premade sauce to save time}: 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 medium-ish yellow onion, diced ½ bell pepper, diced 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 ...

FIRECRACKER CHICKEN MEATBALLS

Gambar
This is my favorite way to eat chicken meatballs. They’re spiced up with a sweet, savory, and spicy firecracker sauce. They’re tender, filled with flavor, and require minimum work! This recipe is super low maintenance. And if you’re not a fan of chicken meatballs, you can swap it out for turkey or any other kind of ground meat you please.
